I was forcibly signed up for typing as a sophmore in HS, and the first
day, as I stood in the doorway, I could not believe or stand the noise.
It was also all girls- training Future Secretaries of America.
so, were there any boys in your class?
I didn't learn to type until I had to teach my kids, and we all learned
from mavis beacon on the computer. Don't ask me how I wrote all those
papers in college- one finger at a time..... LOL

I am ever grateful for the typing class I had back in middle school!
Sitting in a room with 50 kids at 50 huge old, clunky electric
typewriters for an hour every morning for 4 or 5 months did the trick!
Oh the noise!! <LOL>
**** Well -- you're defining the era of your education, Mike. When
*I* was in typing class, there was a class of 50 or so kids sitting at
50 old MANUAL typewriters!! Electric typewriters hadn't been invented
yet. You cannot imagine the noise level! LOL
