I have had problems like this. Being a nurse, I know you are entitled to any
of your records. I called the state Medical Authority and explained my
situation to them, they became involved and pronto, I had my records. I changed

that doctor, as that to me was not something I did wanted to deal with again.
Nurse usually will not give you the results, but the doctor can call you and
give you the results.

I had another episode. I hurt my thumb( trigger thumb) and wanted to know
what it was before I tried to heal it. I had an x-ray taken and wanted a copy.
I
knew I would be charged, and I kept calling every day and they said it was
not ready. I was going to California, and wanted x-rays with me, so I called
the Medical Authority again, and told them I wanted my x-rays and they would
not give me a copy. The following morning, I received a call from office that
 x-rays are ready.

Sometimes threatening, for better lack of word, the office of what your
intentions are about going to a higher source, will do the trick, as the
nurse
or office manager will tell the doctor and he will ok it. Many times doctor
does not know what is going on, his staff is behind this all.

So sad that this is done. No need for it.

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone fired their doctor and had trouble getting the results of
medical/blood work and their records? My doctor is so lazy I think I might be
in for
a battle. She is refusing to let me know the results of a blood test for my
Thyroid until a month from now when I have an appointment with her. All I
wanted to know was is if my test was fine for the dosage of Synthroid I'm on.
It's why I went to her in the first place. She also gave me 2 prescriptions
and
the pharmacist said they needed to be prior approved by my insurance so that
was the end of that. She didn't want to take the time to get the
authorization. What a racket. As far as I know, I am not even certain that she
has looked
at my bloodwork yet (8 days later).

What I want to do is get my medical records and find a new doctor. I just am
not sure exactly what my rights are pertaining to my own information. When
you don't feel good the last thing you want to do is sit around for a month,
waiting on a doctor to look at the tests you have purchased.

My body temp is 97.5 this morning. I slept 5 hours last night and my hands
shake. The wonders of modern medicine for those of us that have insurance.
What a blessing,
Paula
