those electrodes is ions, some colloid is produced when ions convert to
metallic silver with the addition of an electron to the ion -after- it
leaves the electrode.
Other colloidal particles are made as well...mostly silver hydroxide and
some silver oxides.
There is no question that silver ions kill germs or that ions present the
largest possible surface area.
There is no smaller "particle" possible.

Ode, What do you mean when you say that ions present the largest possible
surface area? How big is an ion? How big of a surface area are you talking
about? Are all ions the same size?
