Look into the history of how they acquired their names--this is not a silly issue. If they are interbred and americanized to the point where even the leaders of the movement have names like Russell Means and Phyllis Young, and keep them, they are giving up a very important way of re-establishing their indigenous culture. Names are NOT a silly issue. For me to take them seriously, they need to get rid of what are, in effect, "slave names".
