Yes it is an infection at least the problem with my son was. We were told by the doctor that it was passed down and later found out that it was an infection. From the age of about 8 he coughed until he got sick when he got a cold. He couldn't run a block without having to rest. Age 10-12 he was diagnosed with lyme. They put him on shots of penicillin G bensothene. About 3 days after the first shot he came in and said DAD I JUST RAN FROM THE STORE AND I'M NOT OUT OF BREATH. For about 1-2 years after that when he would get a cold no problem with the coughing. After that the problems started comming back. I hold that in part to the half life of the bensothene type of penicillin. They should have used penicillin G procane. It's not available around here that I know of anymore. Only place is Mexico. Another thing to remember is any infection you have you can also share with you wife or girlfriend. Keep that in mind if you try and get treated. Also Lately I've been having breathing problems and the only thing that hels me is floxin and zithromax. Once in the morning with a full glass of water. You might give that a try if your doctor will let you. Also some people were having good luck with inhaling CS.
