I looked at it and noticed that on the sidebar to the right was another case brought on by (it looks like) a medicine. If that is true, then maybe he had a medicine reaction. This is not much of an abstract, it leaves much to be desired as far as information.

I've bought similar articles in the past and they usually turn out to be pretty unconvincing. Often they are just one doctor's diagnosis thats based on a theory that appeared as an afterthought in some ancient lab test.

But, like this article, they get referenced on things like Wikipedi and assume the status of 'gospel'.
