To be honest, I think it would be quicker for you to find a 6v battery and attach a couple of lengths of wire from an old appliance. You only need to screw or hook one end to the battery, and wrap a bit of rag around the other end. You can tie a bit of cotton thread around to keep it together. Then dampen it to let the current through.
