I am not sure you have to be any more of a Techie for Linux, than
for Microsoft operating systems.
I installed Linux on computers over 20 years ago. I was not much
of a techie on operating systems or computers at that time. I made
the Linux computers network, do communications of all types, and they
worked very nicely.
Once a Fidonet computer in Israel had 12 modems attached. It had run
for over 4 years and never been shut down or restarted.

Yes, I think it is, but that is another book.
I find Microsoft fine with everything really and most programs are
geared for Microsoft.
Yes, that is true. Many programs are not easily available for
Linux. Not nearly as many Free Programs as exist for WinDoZZE.
I built a Microsoft computer that ran 24 hours per day, 7 days per
week, for 9.5 years.
Only recently replaced it.
The main problems with Microsoft Operating systems, is.........
( not necessarily in this order )
1. Operators
2. Software
3. Memory use and Memory Corruption
I have had many problems with commercial computers due to all the
reasons above.
I can always solve them, .......... except ONE.
No on can solve all the problems with Operators other than limit
their access to anything other than ONE program they must use,
......... maybe two.
Another huge mistake that Microsoft made was that of allowing third
party software to
overwrite and replace DLL files. Some of these are part of the
Microsoft Operating systems.
What a Disaster !
They may have stopped this, I do not know. I quit studying operating
systems a few years ago,
.......... except when I really need to do it and I have to do it.
One final thought, ....... The problems Bill Gates had with the
government ceased when
he joined the Bilderbergers.
Now it should be called, Microsoft / Bilderbergers , ......... but
that is another book also.
If you want to learn something, use a utility to study memory use,
how much memory each program and utility uses. No matter how much
you have, some programs will tie up much more than they will ever need.
