I have never been able to find a way to get to the actual link that it copied, only the text part.
I think, I hope, I understand what you are saying.
The only workaround I ever found was to copy the link to notepad which loses the tag portion of the copy, change it there, then copy it to AIM or email client.
What I was going to suggest is a work around also, and likely as much trouble as what you are doing.
Click the link
Copy it from the web browser window ( still the text will not show up )

Here are two links. One was in the message and one was copied from the web browser window.
Not sure what you mean by the "Text Part" unless you mean the description or definition, not the part that is shown above, which seems to me to be the
Meat of the subject, or the meat of the link.
The receiver than gets a link
that says what I want it to say, and do, but if he clicks on it, goes
to the old address before I copied it.
Ok, I understand that. " A butcher of Links". <grin>
It does make sense,
I think this all goes back to the brain of the software, the interpreter, and how the programmer thinks.
Whatever and however he thinks, will certainly be manifest in what the software does.
It may suit him, and he thinks it is the best in the world, but 3 % or 50 % of the people disagree.
Certainly I am not criticizing or be-littleing programmers, far from that.
The new version of Eudora does not handle links exactly like the older versions.
I liked the old one better.
I have installed 7.0 a few times and then go back to Version 6.3.
Some of my favorite utilities date back into the 1980's !
The one below, I compiled, I belive on the date shown.
02/26/1993 11:42 PM 10,676 DISKIMAG.EXE
I have used Diskedit a lot and made some money with it. Awesome.
I wonder if anything like it or newer exists.
Once a friend used some bogus BBS software. He could not access his user list.
He sent the file to me, and I wrote a program to extract the user list, and output
a nice text file of all the users, I did that before I went to bed.
Just a fun exercise, to stay in practice. <grin>
All the programming nuts do not work for Microsoft, but most of them do.
