I hesitate to post this since it is second hand and I can't confirm authenticity. However, it makes sense based on my own experiences with oregano oil, which is a very powerful antibiotic oil.
I have seen several references to people successfully using oil or oregano against MRSA. This quote was found on the Mercola site as a comment from one of the readers: "I recently did an experiment with oil of oregano on myself. I had a 2 inch in diameter and one inch deep infection raging on my abdomen with an open sore about one in in diameter. It was quite nasty and very very tender. I had recently read an article that oil of oregano killed even MRSA. So, I took about 8 drops of oil of oregano in a spoonful of water followed by a glass of water every 6 to 8 hours for ten days. I did this instead of the regularly prescribed antibiotic Keflex. Within one day it was stabilized and at the end of the ten days it was all but completely healed. The other nice thing that happened was that I did not get a vaginal yeast infection. Normally when I have taken antibiotics I have had to consume lots of yogurt and / or probiotics to keep this from happening." I assume this infection was MRSA. However, I find it difficult to believe anyone took 8 drops of concentrated OoO in a spoonful of water. It must have been diluted, a lot of what is on the market as oil of oregano is diluted with virgin olive oil. My own first experience with OoO came because I also did not want to take Keflex, which was prescribed after some extensive oral surgery. So I searched my wife's herbal shelf and found some capsules of oil of oregano. It said to "take one or more", so I took two, followed a few hours later by another. I had never taken it before, so did not know what to expect. When I woke up the following morning I was nauseous with headache and the skin on my abdomen was red and very warm. These symptoms went away after I used the toilet. I recognized these symptoms as classic herx reactions. The oil of oregano was working, perhaps too well. However, the amount I took was an overdose, because the capsules were the concentrated, pure oregano oil and the total dose I took was over 400 mg! So I bought a more diluted form and started taking three drops in four ounces of apple juice. To make a long story short, I healed with no infection, and I learned to respect and go slow with the oil of oregano. Here is a great reference from the Wolfe clinic, which mentions that OoO and CS work well together: http://www.thewolfeclinic.com/oregano.html I believe oil of oregano could be of value as part of a protocol to defeat MRSA. I don't have personal experience with this, but my reading suggests it is true. Since OoO seems to work synergistically with CS, I have added it to my daily routine.
