Going back a few days to the above comment, let me mention that the whole subject of boiling water and flouride removal was in the context of Sol's effort to get her distilled water down to a reasonable level of purity. The suggestion to pre-boil the water before putting it in the distiller is meant as a way to drive off any volatile impurities that have a boiling point at or above that of the water, before putting the water in the distiller. If it has the incidental effect of slightly concentrating everything that's left, it doesn't matter. Anything else that remains in the already boiled water will *still* be left in the distiller resevoir, just as before. Now, if you boil your drinking water for some *other* purpose and you do it for more than the minimum required for that reason, you run the risk of concentrating the impurities, as Ruth describes.
