that's a lot of baths for a dog. On a raw meat diet my dog doesn't get any baths because he smells so good. But on a rainy day when he goes out in mud I have to rinse his paws. He's a big German shepherd. Jess -----Original Message----- From: Dianne France [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, July 16, 2009 6:43 PM To: silver-list Subject: RE: CS>Re: CS for dog mange
We have a black lab that has had a problem with her skin itching and hair loss on her hind end. It was terrible for a while until I discovered she is allergic to oats. How I found out was I was trying to find some southing shampoo and bought an oat based shampoo to use on her. She swelled and ended up having to have Benadryl. We changed her food, tried raw but she wouldn't eat it. We finally ended up buying Iams ProActive that doesn't have oats in the formula. Her hair started growing back in a little but still itched. We started giving her two drops of Lugols in her feed once daily and the skin has healed and hair has grown back. She still itches now and then but nothing like before. When she does itch we put some cs in an applicator bottle and work it into the skin and the itching and heat goes away. She gets baths twice a week.
