I just read that there is a relationship between certain enzymes (pancreatin I believe) and many digestive problems such as UC, Crohns, etc Sorry I don't recall where I read this, but will let you know if I find it again.
Oddly enough, difficienties in protease appear to contribute to kidney failure (nephritis) and cancer too.
