I haven't done it yet but will try to do it soon... The needles are edible, directly, but of course we're not ruminants and not set up to efficiently digest such. You bring water to a boil, remove heat, throw in needles and let steep for a few minutes. Google pine tea or pine soup and you'll find several recipes. The resin is in the wood, not the needles.
