Dear Bertrand,

I have been making and taking EIS or CS made by the Slipshod method [tm]
for many years through force of circumstances. I'm not in the USA so
distilled water is not easy to get.

I use a current controlled device which controls to 1 mA per square inch
of silver rod. Because I use "tap" water, the water is a bit conductive
and the process comes up to full current within a second or two. So I
could use a timer for repeatablity ; but i just leave it running for
about 3 or 5 minutes for 250 ml. [ Gasp. Two slipshods in one in one
paragraph. ]

Further. I don't stir. Having made the happy discovery that using a tall
container means that the stream of electrolysed silver drifts down from
one electrode so the other electrode seems to be in relatively fresh
water, so there is less neutralised silver, and the EIS remains clear for
a long time (weeks). I shake the container after switching off.
Normally, EIS made in a slipshod manner will be a pale milky grey going
to violet or brown in a few days.

I don't use a lot , somewhere between 1/3 of a cup and 2 cups per day if
i need it. and sometimes go for a week without taking EIS at all.

hth,
Tony
