I essentially cured my own reflux with Betaine HCL with pepsin, too, but I never had to take nearly that much. And I found I could take it right at the start of a meal, in the middle, or even after a meal and get the same benefit. I also no longer have to take it regularly, only once in a while as it seems to have "retrained" my stomach to produce its own acid? Or maybe the diet changes I made have helped.
