The best thing seems to be a current-controlled power supply that will not exceed around 1 milliamp per square inch of electrode surface. When you start the process, the distilled water conducts so little that it seems to take forever to get going, but then as the ionic content builds up, the conductivity rises, as does the current, and you have to make sure it doesn't get out of hand. If it takes on a yellow tinge, that means larger particles are being produced, likely because of too much current. Way too much current, and the yellow becomes brown. None of that is harmful, just isn't as effective at getting to the bugs as the smaller particles would be. Personally I use an electrophoresis power supply that starts out at 2000v and maybe 1 ma or so with distilled water. The current rises very quickly, so I have to sit there and turn down the voltage often. If I do it right, I end up with a clear or very slightly yellow CS, around 15-25 PPM. Next step will be to make or buy an adjustable current limited power supply so I can do something other than watch it while it works. Better alternative is to buy a good commercial CS maker, but I like to DIY. Hopefully the group will chime in if I am off the mark here. Trying to get overall opinion. Is there much difference in making with lower voltage and taking a longer time than making with higher voltage and faster? Also 4 - square 9v batteries, coupled in series to each other. Smitty -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver.
