I absolutely do not believe that you have an email program where this
cannot be turned off. This would be the case of a dictatorship where
everyone on the list has to conform to your non flexible e-mail
program. Why? It is just easier to delete everything you posts or to
set the spam trap to dump everything you post to the spam file where
they get deleted in mass..
I use two email programs, in one of which I can set a domain
([email protected]) so that my emails to the list are automatically
sent in plain text. In the other, I cannot find a way to do that, and
have to choose either plain text or HTML for each email I send.
So I don't think all email programs are the same. But I know at least
one of mine allows such a choice for "receipt" as well.
When email programs do not allow such a choice by domain, it should be
possible to set up a separate email account (or address or "personality"
or whatever that particular email program calls it--my provider allows
me up to 5 separate email addresses) and set that account or address to
never request receipts and only use that one for the silverlist or other
lists where is it an annoyance to list members to have to get the pop up
about sending a receipt.
There is no reason a separate yahoo or gmail account cannot be set up
just for silverlist emails----this would be a really separate email
account, not just a different email address within the same provider.
The volume of the silverlist is rather large, and I like reading PTs
posts so I hope this can be solved. Though Mike may have solved it in
the global settings for the silverlist, I still think it worth PTs while
to fix this also in her own email set up.
