Bob, The question of water quality has been discussed before, not in the least by your good self. I don't have a problem myself. I use purified water BP (British Pharmacopoeia) which must comply to a minimum standard, and I encourage my customers to obtain the same or equivalent. This is readily obtainable from microbiological labs or compounding chemists in countries where the BP standard is used. There is no doubt an American Standard equivalent.
The starting current is 0.05 mA However the seeding is a great idea, for those that have a DMM handy, and who cannot obtain a consistent supply of distilled water. Bob, could you try something for me. As you have different quality d. water available, and a conductivity probe, could you add the same amount of CS to each until the CS swamps the difference in conductivity in the d. waters. Thanks, Ivan. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: silver-list <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, 13 September 1999 18:45 Subject: CS>Constant Current > Ivan and All; > > I have just finished the second run of CS using the parameters from > Ivan. > > I must report that Constant Current CS has the same problems the > constant voltage (batteries) > > ALL of the low voltage CS process have a water quality problem. > > The first run o 200 ml of Absopure DW which has an Rb of 145 k ohms (on > cc probe) (6.9 mS) came to .6 ma. current limit immediately and stayed > there.
