Why buy prill beads, other than convenience? It appears that it is just a somewhat controlled way of dissolving magnesium oxide in water. Why not just buy some magnesium oxide powder and mix an appropriate amount in with the gallon of water?
I believe the magnesium oxide powder is much cheaper. Unless you could find a source for bulk magnesium oxide beads...
