Here in the south (Texas) you can find tamarind pulp in any grocery store. The Hispanics love it and make drinks with it (you can buy tamarind soda pop) and bake with it. You can also buy whole tamarind pods in the Mexican grocery stores. Italians use it a lot too, only they call it tamarindo.
