Gene: The questions you ask are the same questions the FDA insists must be answered in order to make CS an "approved drug." I don't have the half a billion dollars to do the research, and no corporation would spend it because it can't patent the result. The research will never be done. If you think there's any hazard to using silver for any purpose, don't use it.
