Hi Ivan, One factor in the production of AgCl is the presence of the electrode potential. This would not be present if a normal saline was added to an already-made solution of CS. Since you can inject plain sterile water---if not in enough volume to upset blood electrolytes--- I do not see how the presence of the Ag in the water without saline would be a problem. I suspect that the forces holding the cluster of silver atoms together is probably stronger that the attraction of the Cl ion, but I don't know how to calculate those potentials. However, my belief is that a single atom of Ag will probably react with a Cl ion because it is such a strong R/O agent. (I still get confused about which is which).
In the Hach silver test process, the reagents react with all silver present single atoms and clumps, which means that those compounds do have a strong enough reactive potential to pull the atoms off a cluster, or there is something there which does it first. I am vastly ignorant of the way the test works, and the compounds used are not known at all to me. If I myself was desperately ill of an apparent infection, and there was no alternative except to try IV CS, I would not hesitate to take it IV, without saline. I doubt whether saline was added or is needed.
