Hi Joyce.  Welcome to the list -- I think you'll enjoy being here, and a lot of
wisdom is shared here.

Regarding your dog with incontinence --  I'm glad to hear that whatever you're
doing is working.  You could certainly be right about an infection, etc.  But
if
your dog is old, there's a possibility that she has some vertebral arthritis --
which results in blockage of the electrical impulses from the brain to the
bladder (and back) that tell a dog when they need to go.  I went through this
with my dog last year when she was 14 years old.  The vet told me that it was
age-related kidney failure, blah-blah.  An online alternative vet told me to
find an animal chiropractor for her.  I did.  Turns out she had arthritic
lesions in four places.  She became *continent* after one treatment -- and
remains so if I take her in every seven or eight weeks for treatment.  She's
fifteen years old this year, and is healthier and friskier now than she has
been
for some time -- so I think she was dealing with physical limitations, and
perhaps pain, for some time.

So -- for whatever it's worth -- one thing you'll learn for sure on this list
is
that there are many different ways to approach solving a problem!!  Ain't life
grand?  :-D

I am Joyce Miller, a new member. I am very interested in CS; my
husband makes ours, and I use if for myself and with our dogs. We have
one dog who has had some incontinence issues, and I tried many
supplements. I think some worked and reduced the amount of incontince
but since I started using CS instead of water in her food, we have had
virtually no incontinence. Is it the CS or the supplements or both? I
do not know, but I do know that CS had to play a role in her healing.
The vet had said that it was a weakness probably created by her being
spayed years ago; I am now thinking that it was some kind of infection
and that the CS is what is helping her.

Because of this experience, I want to learn as much as I can about CS.

Thank you for this list.

Joyce
