In addition to Brita's good comments, I would just say that the importance of *everything* is exaggerated in the marketing hype you're going to find out there. There's a tendency on the part of every advocate to slam everybody else's techniques as "real dangerous" and their own as virtuous. Using sea salt, you will initially create a few ppm of silver salts, *SOME* of which may be toxic, until the salt is fully used up. Pure salt will mostly create silver chloride, which is a fairly benign silver salt and not a serious issue *in the quantities involved.* The *other* issue is particle size. CS made with salt in the water, although it's fast, does not have the shelf life of other methods *and* is obviously of larger particle size. It's just fine for topical use and plenty of folks have used it for other things with no *apparent* harm to anyone we know of yet. Still, that's no guarantee a bunch of people are not going to turn blue some day (argyria), but we're looking at the evidence of at least 15 or 20 years of usage so far. I started out with salt and later learned to make it with none. It takes longer but there are fewer unknowns. You can regain some of the speed by using a quarter glass of the last batch as "starter" for the next batch. We're talking about a few ppm of stuff that's not particularly capable of toxicity. Learn to make it right and you'll be unlikely to have any problems in the long run. Be well, Mike D.
