I made my own stir bar originally Joe, a nail cut down to size and rounded on each end then surrounded with heat shrink tubing such as electricians use to cover soldered joints. It worked OK, but I didn't trust the heat shrink to remain totally water proof around the nail over time so I bought some proper stir bars. N.
