I'm relieved you are hitting this with both silver and antibiotic. 
My husband had a tiny pimple on his knee years ago after crawling in s fire in 
turn out gear. A red stripe started up his leg and reached his groin in just a 
few hrs. It was staph but not MRSA. He didn't want to go to the ER on the 
weekend, but when I told him he could lose his manhood if he waited til Mon, he 
reconsidered. 
They actually hospitalized him and he had 2 days of IV antibiotics. 
It's very helpful to elevate your leg MOST OF THE DAY!  This allows your body 
to carry the infection out of the limb.
