There is about 20 seconds after a shift that things unwind then rewind the
other way and nothing much happens.
A one minute cycle will be quite slow.
A five minute cycle with 20 seconds missing is a lot faster.
 You will want the electrodes far enough away from each other that the ions
don't make it all the way to the other side during the cycle.
