hi dotsie....i am new to the list...my husband has really bad lungs, and use the breather....we started to use the cs in it and he does not add any saline...that would change the cs...he said, his lungs felt less tight after the first treatment....i make our cs...we both use it, plus our dog...he puts about 1 tsp of cs in the bowl and starts it up...works fine with out the saline....good luck...jara
