Hi, Ivan ...and others struggling with the pH issue... and, oh yeah, the
oxide vs hydroxide issue.... and, well, the conductivity (for some:
concentration) issue....
There are lots of questions about the problems inherent in HVAC....
I mentioned in an earlier post that the particles sintered off the electrode
in that process look distorted [tormented] and that the poetry -- or
exquisiteness -- of CS is lost in the event.
There are other, more urgent, problems associated with HVAC and it is
not that of a low pH -- altho that is sometimes a problem. But those we
have looked at now share the problem of formation of crystals [dendritic
forms] in the sol! Yes these are colloids, but of insulated effect which I
attribute to distortion.
It is important for those who care ....to face the reality of their
efforts. The [historic] irony in making CS, for all those who know its
history, is that research was all but totally abandoned ....long before the
technology to evaluate it was available! So it is the aborted effort that
is the inheritance we share.
It would be of great interest, if not value, to see some of what we've
had the opportunity of examining these last couple of weeks. We've decided
to publish the micrographs in a new section of our website called WHAT'S
NEW. Comments are always invited but give us time to respond. Time is
precious and there are just not enuf hrs in a day, or days in the wk!
