Roger I am acquainted with "sputtering" in terms of vacuum based processes used in electronics and industry for coatings and creating layered structures with thin films. I understand you're doing ambient pressure sputtering at least for part of your process. My use of "sputtering" here, which may not be perfect, is to describe the process where incident electrons impart kinetic energy to the silver metal lattice, causing, or at least contributing to, the release of silver atoms into the sol. Can the electrolysis of a metal in water be accurately described as a sputtering process, in whole or in part? I don't know. I'm willing to be educated. <grin> Be well, Mike D.
