In this weeks New Scientist is also another remarkable discovery:

Scientists have come up with a great idea for 3rd world countries:
put the water in plastic bottles and leave in the sun for an hour.
Nearly 5000 years ago, smart people knew that all DRINKING/COOKING water
had to be "offered to the Gods" first. You put it outside in the sun in a
bowl for an hour..........................................
I like the old one better: PLASTIC??? Leaching its components into the H20
