Nader's major point was that the rear axle of the Corvair -- a swing axle -- was inherently unstable and could cause the car to flip under certain extreme circumstances. He won his point in court -- but not in engineering circles. It seems that at exactly the same time, Mercedes-Benz -- the acknowledged safest car in the world -- used (and continues to use) exactly the same type of rear axle, because of it's ability to maintain contact with the road under extreme circumstances. -- Dean -- from (almost) Duh Moyn (CDP, KB0ZDF) -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
