Marsha: You're right about the nugget not having any obvious protective 
coating having been exposed to high temperature. I think silver may take a 
while to become tarnished if you live in an area with clean air (low 
humidity?). I have silver wire that's as bright as the day it arrived (~18 
months ago).

What kind of setup did you use to melt the silver? What sort of crucible did 
you use? Roger
