Silverware will not tarnish much because of contact with oxygen, but it will tarnish greatly when it comes in contact with sulphur. That is why you cannot use silverware with eggs or it will require polishing. It looks very dirty if it gets anything eggy on it--mayo with egg included. Or so I've heard. pj
