Yes, It is the silver that has aggregated into larger particles that is causing the red colour. The fact that it is a rich red has to do with the concentration of the silver I imagine. 2 pints to 3 quarts, that's 1:6 I think... if it takes that much silver to kill the little blighters then the survival of the species is not under threat!
