Hi Ya'all, Back in December 1998 I had CSPRO do a TEM on some high voltage CS. I used 380 v DC, for one hour. during the process there were several strange thing happened as outlined below.
The current increased linearly to 12 minutes to about 60 ma and the CS became lke muddy water. From 12 to about 20 minutes the current was almost constant, and then started to decrease linearly until 20 ma.at 60 minutes. about the 25minute point the CS started to clear and at the end of 60 minutes it was crystal clear. Bruce Marx of CSPRO said that this sample was the worst CS that he had even seen. The particle size varied for about 18 nm to 78 nm, while my LVDC TEM's show much smaller particles. The reason for this post is that there is discussion of using 4000 v DC for CS. While almost any CS seems to work, my gut feeling is that 4000 v would make extremely large particles. To me it would seem to be prudent to have a TEM made of this process before randomly giving out the material. "Ole Bob" -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
