Robert, BSE is not a pathogen as such, but a rogue protein which if it lodges in the brain has the ability to alter neighbouring proteins to its own nature, in a cascading manner until death. Unfortunately it takes a long time to have this effect and protection now would be too late. Not sure whether CS would have any mitigating effect.
