Hmmm, wonder how he can explain why the 6 members of my family who averaged a cold or flu every month or two, have now gone 3 years without getting sick (except for one time for my wife).
Previous 3 years - about 100 illnesses between us all. Last 3 years - 1 lung congestion problem. So the basline is about 100 with a standard deviation of 10. 1 is just under 10 standard deviations from the norm of 100. My stats books don't even go that far out, they stop at 3 standard deviations, and basically say anything beyond that is not a statistical deviation. I would guess about a trillion or more to one. If we look at it on an individual by individual basis, we have: previous 3 years - about 16 illnesses each last 3 years - 0 illnesses each. Standard deviation is 4. The second 3 years is 4 standard deviations from the mean. Assuming that this means that the probability of it being statistical (since I cannot find anything that goes beyond 3 standard deviations) is about 1 in 100,000 the probability that all 6 are statistical is 100,000 to the 6th power, or 10^30. This is 1 chance in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, or one chance in a trillion trillion. This is better proof to me than any official drug test results I have ever read that was FDA approved.
