Silica Tissue Salts 6X - a very inexpensive homoeopathic remedy - can
be taken every half hour for acute conditions.  They are used as a
toxic eliminator, for toxic accumulations, styes, boils and pus
formations.

I've used them to clear mucous in chest problems before.  The other
thing which I've not used - is white horehound - it is recommended for
clearing mucous out of the lungs too.
