 I see no reason to think that a clump of silver will behave any different
 whether it has 1000 atoms or a trillion as far as ionization.

Marshall: There could indeed be a difference between "1000 atoms or a 
trillion as far as ionization [is concerned]" because non-silver atoms (much 
more likely to be encountered in a trillion as opposed to a 1000 atoms) setup 
the electrochemical potential to corrode silver which forms the aqueous ions.
