Dear Brooks- Thanks for posting this about alpha lipoic acid- you suggested
alpha lipoic from german or italian sources.  I use  alpha lipoic acid by
"Jarrow" formulas-an American company that I use because they answer all my
meddlesome questions about their ingredients directly by email.  Do you know
about this brand?  Any brands readily available on healthfood store shelves
that you recommend?  Thanks, Gage
