I have tried them for gold using the submerged non-arcing CS production method, and was unsuccessfully in doing anyting but boiling the water.
Using two of them in parallel is what we use for making the Silver Lighning CS. Works great. With a flow through you can make about 2 gallons an hour for 5 ppm CS per transformer if you cool the entrance water to near freezing.
