Evening Cheryl,
You point out some interesting observations, apparently made from experience.
>>client can spread the infection to other users. Additionally, Eudora users
who receive a Kak infected email and choose the delete option in their
antivirus software risk the loss of their entire inbox. This is not a fault
of the antivirus software, but rather the way Eudora handles individual
emails as an addition to one large file.
I understand what you are saying, and agree this could easily
happen. Many people use the "delete" option when the virus scanner finds
an infected or suspicious file. Often this can crash the operating system.
Having used Eudora for a number of years, I have not had it happen as
you describe. Possibly I have never had a true "email virus". How would
this happen? Can you name a few? I remember most of the virus names I
have had over the years.
I have over 100 mailboxes and some of these have messages dating back
thr 2000, 1999, 1998, and 1997.
Typically when I back up Eudora the total bytes is from 100 to 150
megs. You could say I am trying to crash Eudora, if there is any way possible.
Here are a few of my largest mailboxes.
FUGITTPE MBX 8819236 A
TESTHE~1 MBX 10160329 A
TESTHE~2 MBX 10160329 A
CASTBU~1 MBX 11745120 A
JIM_BO~2 MBX 12049655 A
OXYGEN~1 MBX 12306784 A
IN MBX 13989040 A
OUT MBX 20001357 A
THOMCENT MBX 27911035 A
These are sorted by size as you can see. 27 megs is a large mailbox.
You might ask...... "why don't you clean house" ? Like I said, I am
trying to crash the Eudora program.
I mirror the Eudora program to both a local drive and a network drive.
I think Eudora is a fantastic piece of software. Could you suggest a
better one?
Wayne
