Dear Beverle,
I am not a medical doctor (you may be confusing me with Dr. Jon
Brooks).
Because this is an off-topic, it would probably be best for any
continuance of this discussion to be moved to the "Silver-off-topic-list".
Your comment about taping giving some relief....... offers some evidence
that "proper" arch support will, in fact, aid your condition. My wife has
encountered very severe---and painful---heel spurs. Of the various
protocols attempted.......only the HIGH QUALITY arch support systems gave
her relief. Without burdening you with elaborate postulations, I just say
that without preventing the force-transfer vectors caused by insufficient
arch support.....few protocols will afford more than temporary relief.
Drug-store type arch supports are---usually---totally insufficient for
treating any but the most minor conditions.
There are several reliable manufacturers of high-quality arch
supports. We do not recommend, except in the generic sense, any
manufacturer of anything. If you are unable to distinguish , from among
aviailable sources---- acceptable suppliers---- contact me off-line and I
will make some recommendations.
I am assuming you understand that BOTH feet must be included for
support protocols.....even though only one is presenting detectable
difficulties. Additionally, relief is not instantaneous.....several days
being required for marked improvement. Do understand that---to some
degree---the reversal of the "heel-loading" force may, in itself, delay
major pain relief.....until the foot architecture restructures properly.
Additionally, residual effects of nerve trauma, sometimes requires several
days before lasting respite occurs.
Although we are not experts in podiatry, and have performed only
limited researches in these matters, it is of consequence to consider
that----excepting those cases involving acute trauma (expecially
impact)---we have failed to encounter a single case that did not, to
measureable degree, respond favorably to arch-support address. And this
includes even those cases where calcifications were extant.
You have my genuine sympathy.....such discomfort is of no small
moment. My apologies for not being able to offer a more powerful address
to your problem.
Sincerely, Brooks Bradley.
