Mike, I dont understand what all the controversy is about. Freedom of inquiry or even Freedom of expression does not mean I can be abusive or insulting to anyone who sees things differently than I do. The attitude that my viewpoint is superior to all others is spoiled-brat immature, like what you find at a poorly-supervised day-care center. I have no respect for a person who must defend his viewpoint by telling an opponent that he is a retarded idiot for disagreeing with him.
There are two attitudes sometimes found on this list that make me uncomfortable. One is the snobby, superior attitude, the I know the most, and my product is the best [or even the ONLY] product to take, and you are a born loser if you take any other product. The other is more subtle. There is a lot of discussion about manufacturing techniques, about particle size, shape, color, surface, movement, voltage, current, etc. Weve gone from Colloidal Silver to particle vs ionic to mesosilver, to who knows what is next? Theories and speculations abound, but are lacking the one and, in my opinion, most important factor: Does it kill pathogens? Does one method kill pathogens better than another? Do people experience improved health? If I found that walking around all day sucking on a piece of silver wire was just as effective as making and drinking liquid CS, maybe I would just do that! (Except for the fear that I might accidentally swallow it. But that might be fine, too!) As you said, Mike, for me to find that one method produced CS that was effective (at killing pathogens) using only a teaspoon per day, but another, simpler, cheaper method needed one ounce twice a day (or 5 oz, twice a day) to achieve the same benefit, I would use the second method, wouldnt I? (Well, I would.) The profit motive you believe in, as do I, is fine, but the attitude of discouraging competition, or the attitude of seeking profit more than the benefit of (or even at the expense of) my clients is not. This is precisely the attitude we all object to with the medical/pharmaceutical industry. For someone on the List who has a commercial interest in CS to insult and abuse someone else because they have a different production method looks and feels the same as what we see coming from Quackwatch (shudder). Come on, folks, we should be compatriots in this field first, and competitors (albeit friendly) last. What I read being expressed by some of the more radical Techies on the List sometimes sounds pretty much the same as what I can read anytime from Stephen Barret on Quackwatch. I sell HVDC CS to over 70 Health Food stores, pharmacies and medical and Naturopathic doctors across Canada (I, too, have a commercial interest). But a new Health Food store owner called me recently, and in the course of our discussion of the comparative merits of HVDC vs LVDC, I told her that the only real drawback to most home-made LVDC CS was that I felt you might need to drink more of it than HVDC CS, but considering how cheaply it could be made, who cares? This new store owner had been drinking her own home-made CS for years, but wanted CS that was more stable (didnt change color over time), so she ordered from me. The point Im making here is that, though I feel the CS I make is high quality, the reality is that even lower quality CS is just fine, even if it means drinking more of it. One other dynamic on the List seems to me very important. Though I have learned nearly all that I know about CS from members of this list, my feelings of loyalty to this List dont come primarily from that, but from the camaraderie, sympathy and friendliness I feel from the other quality people who frequent this List. Not only will folks respond to my needs or a plight I may be wrestling with, they also communicate caring and compassion. Except for when one person is bashing another for having a different viewpoint, I feel safe and welcome here. One of the top priorities to protect on this List is the COMMUNITY we have. Mike, please change nothing about how you manage this list. The certainty that you will step in before things become too abusive is a major factor in our feeling safe here, to ask our questions and express our opinions.
