Marshall said: "Our testing indicates that once you get to about 20 ppm, the particles get larger instead of more numerous."
Terry responds: I've heard this before. But it seems that if that were true, it would be impossible to make 500 ppm CS that was clear. I am given to understand that ppm is referring to the total amount of silver present, not the actual number of particles of silver. People trip over this because they - logically - think that 20 ppm gives you more actual, separate particles of silver than 10 ppm, so 20 ppm is better. Yet at least one techie on this list has stated that a certain amount of silver in a certain amount of water would equate to a certain ppm, even if the silver was in the form of one big chunk. What everyone wants is 40 molecules (or atoms, or ions, or particles, or ding-dongs) of silver to every million molecules (or whatever) of water, and they want those pieces of silver to be so small that they don't refract light. The proponents of ionic silver say that is exactly what ionic silver is. Bob Berger, you have tested many different kinds, types and brands of CS. Have you ever actually seen 500 ppm? Or 1,000 ppm? Was it clear? How much Tyndall effect? Does your testing experience verify the idea that, after about 20 ppm, the particles get bigger? If 500 ppm was referring to a CS that had five times the number of silver particles than 100 ppm (and the silver particles in both strengths of CS were the same size), that would have to be a better CS. If nothing else, it would mean you could dilute it and use it. In the field of ionic silver, what kinds of ppm are available? And is it appropriate to designate ionic silver in ppm terms? Parts-per-million of what? Ions? How is this measured? What is the maximum theoretical strength of ionic silver? What time is it? Oops, getting carried away with questions.
