Well, there's two reasons that contribute to that. One is a particularly busy day that -- heavens! -- kept me away from the computer and the silver list. Shame on me! The other is the "follow up moderation" of the list. The stuff goes out and I clean up the mess afterward. There are several things about this discussion that merit comment. Something for Kevin to consider are the consequences of playing list cop. You've taken on your shoulders the mantle of protector of the gullible and critic of list management. The latter is disruptive, and the former presumes a bit. I figured early on when several good technical people responded to Damian that they'd help keep his feet on the ground. That's why I didn't trounce on it in any kind of hurry. And I *don't* figure I have to police what things people choose to be interested in. The *many* people who replied "count me in" and insisted on doing so to the list were a problem, but not unexpected. Y'all had better start learning how to respond to the *author* of a message instead of to the list. The address is right there in the e-mail, but your e-mail program tries to hide those messy details from you, crippling you in the process. <grrr> That's another FAQ we'd better write up. But that was only one part of a bigger problem. That was all of you who *REPLIED TO AN OFF TOPIC THREAD*, multiple times each in the case of Marshall and Chuck and Roger, for instance. Folks? You're talking about RA and violet rays and telepathy and which volumes of whatever writings you have? On the list? What's wrong with this picture? <nudge nudge> And have we sorted out yet who invented the telephone? See how easy it is to go slip-slidin' off topic? And there's 20 or more messages gone through that a lot of people would rather not have to read. I could issue official *Warnings* for some of this but I won't -- this time. So please transfer these discussions now to Damian's list or to the [email protected] or to private e-mail. It's not like we don't have any options now, is it???<GRIN> List volume is getting to be too high for us to allow ourselves that much topic-slack. Keep it tighter, please.
