Nancy, I do not have the CS knowledge you have but I do have experience with animals and dehydration. We raise Registered Dairy goats and a few years back following a dairy goat show alot of animals owned by others came down sick and all died but one. The one I saved. We were living in an Amish community at the time and the local veterinarian was accustomed to telling the folks how to treat their own animals. She taught me how to dehydrate using Ringer's lactate and a syringe. It was super easy. You just draw up a syringe (I would assume in your case about 3-5cc's) put the needle just under the skin and inject the ringer's lactate. It will make a lump under the skin. When the lump is gone (this takes several hours) do it again until the animal recovers. Deanna in MN
