If you replace "average" with RMS in what you wrote it would all be
correct.  However average and RMS are NOT the same thing.  The true average
of AC is 0, since the negative half would cancel the positive half.  The
average of the absolute would be the integral of the voltage over one cycle
divided by the time of that cycle. The RMS, which is what is always used for
AC voltages such as house current is the square root of the integral of the
voltage squared divided by the cycle time.

The average is approximately .90 times the RMS value for a sine wave.
